The Councils to bet on F1
Kimi Räikkönen signed Saturday the best time of the qualifications of the Great Price of Australia de Formule 1, becoming the first pilot since Juan Manuel Fangio in 1956 to sign a pole position as of its first race at the wheel of Ferrari.
Its fellow-member Felipe Massa, who had shown himself fastest of the second meeting of free tests Friday, was victim in qualifications of a breakdown of gear box which condemns it to spring since the 16th position on the grid.
Q: Could you hope for a better beginning with Ferrari?
Kimi Raikkonen: For me, not! But for the team, the beginning of season could have been better. But let us hope that we will be able to include/understand the problem and that it will not reproduce. For my part, I did not have any problem. I hope that the problem encountered by Felipe will not reproduce tomorrow (Sunday) but one never knows. Therefore, it will be necessary to do our better no matter what it arrives. Of course, this incident causes concern, but with a little chance, we will be sufficiently good.
Q: Did you expect a harder battle for the pole?
KR: Ca was not easy! It is never easy.
But we think that the margin of our car compared to competition is more important in race than in qualifications. Then today, we made our better and it was sufficient. Very happened well and it remains to see what will occur tomorrow (in race).
Q: How do you imagine the race and the competition of your old McLaren-Mercedes stable?
KR: We have a good car for the race. We are more trustful for the race than were we it for the qualifications. If all is well and that we do not encounter a problem, I think that we will be good, but who knows? So many things can arrive. In general, the race here is amusing, but we will make our to better gain. Of course, the others will make similar and try to beat us, which is normal. It will be tight.
